Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech – High Atlas Mountains – Ouarzazate – Merzouga Desert
Morning Departure:
Commence your 2-day journey from Marrakech to Merzouga with a pick-up by your driver from Tawada Travels at your hotel/riad in Marrakech early in the morning.
High Atlas Adventure:
Embark on a scenic drive through the High Atlas mountains, passing through the Tizi N´Tichka port. Enjoy stops for panoramic views, capturing the beauty of Berber villages and landscapes.
Ait ben Haddou Exploration:
Visit Ait ben Haddou, a fortified village recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1986. This spectacular location has been featured in famous films like Game of Thrones, Gladiator, The Jewel of the Nile, and The Mummy.
Ouarzazate – “The Gate of the Desert”:
Proceed to Ouarzazate, known as “The Gate of the Desert” in Berber language, meaning “noiseless.” Explore the Taourirt kasbah, one of Morocco’s most remarkable ksars.
Rose Valley and Skoura Palm Grove:
Pass through the Rose Valley and the vast Skoura palm grove, a captivating place with countless palms and numerous kasbahs. Stop for lunch along the way.
Dades & Todra Valleys – Merzouga Desert:
Continue your journey through Dades and Todra valleys, Tinejdad, and Touroug, heading towards the Merzouga Desert. Reach the stunning dunes of Erg Chebbi, where you’ll embark on a Camel trek through the golden desert, experience a breathtaking sunset, and have the option to try sandboarding. Finally, arrive at Berber Camp Merzouga for a traditional evening with drumming music, a starry sky, and a night in a nomadic tented camp.
Day 2: Erg Chebbi – Draa Valley – Agdez – Anti Atlas – Ouarzazate – Marrakech
Early Morning in the Desert:
Wake up early to witness the spectacular sunrise over the desert. Enjoy breakfast and a shower at the camp before riding camels or taking a 4WD transfer back to the original meeting location.
Return Journey to Marrakech:
Meet your driver and commence the return journey to Marrakech through a different route. Pass through the Draa Valley, known for its beautiful river, the longest in Morocco. Journey through the Anti Atlas, making stops to appreciate the acacia trees typical of the landscape.
Lunch and Ouarzazate:
Take some free time for lunch in Ouarzazate and continue the journey towards Marrakech. In the afternoon, reach Marrakech, where your hotel drop-off marks the end of the Marrakech to Merzouga 2-day tour.
