Itinerary:
Day 1: Casablanca – Rabat – Fez
Commence your journey with a delightful breakfast at the riad before heading to Fez, making a stop in Meknes along the way. Meknes, nestled beneath the Middle Atlas Mountains, offers glimpses of notable sites, including the UNESCO World Heritage Roman ruins of Volubilis. After a fulfilling lunch in Meknes, proceed towards Fez. Upon arrival in Fez, check into your accommodation for dinner and a restful night.
Day 2: Explore Fes City with Local Guide
Embark on a day dedicated to exploring the enchanting city of Fes. Divided into three zones—Fez el-Bali, Fès el-Jdid, and the old Medina—the city captivates with its medieval charm and endless streets. Visit notable sites such as the Mellah, the Jewish Quarter, the Plaza of the dyers, Fes el Bali, Fes el Jedid, the Andalusian Mosque, and more. After a day of exploration, return to the riad for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Fez – Azrou – Midelt – Ziz Valley – Merzouga (Camel Trek & Night in Desert Camp)
After breakfast, journey to the desert of Merzouga, making stops at various intriguing sites. Traverse the Middle Atlas, passing through Ifrane, a Moroccan-Swiss-style town, and Azrou, home to a cedar forest with friendly monkeys. Continue to Midelt, situated between the Middle Atlas and the High Atlas, for lunch. Proceed through the Ziz Valley, witnessing the stunning red gorges, expansive oasis, and picturesque villages. Arrive in Merzouga late afternoon, where you’ll prepare for a camel trek into Erg Chebbi dunes. Enjoy a night in a fully-equipped desert camp with dinner, music, and the magical atmosphere of the Sahara.
Day 4: Explore Merzouga Area
Wake early to witness the sunrise, and later, visit a nomad family. Enjoy a Berber pizza-making demonstration and tasting, followed by a 4×4 excursion to explore the desert oasis, the town of Khamlia, the MIFISS mines, and encounter the Berber nomads. Return to the camp for dinner, music, and another night in a Berber tent.
Day 5: Merzouga Sahara Desert » Rissani » Draa Valley » Ouarzazate
Embark on a camel trek back to the riad, with the option for a shower. Visit the village of Khamlia, where sub-Saharan people have established their community. Experience live music from the Bambara tribe. Continue to Rissani to explore its bustling market. After lunch, journey through the Draa Valley, capturing the natural beauty. Reach Ouarzazate for dinner and a night’s rest.
Day 6: Ouarzazate – Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech
Explore the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, blending Islamic and Jewish influences. Proceed to the fortified city of Ait Ben Haddou, another UNESCO site, renowned for movie productions like Lawrence of Arabia and Gladiator. Visit the Kasbah of Telouet en route to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas with picturesque stops. Arrive in Marrakech, relax at your hotel, savor dinner, and retire for the night.
